Our beloved Mario Hernandez Gonzales, age 74, resident of Converse, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Mario is preceded in death by his grandson: Mark Anthony Gonzales Jr.; parents; Julian & Nasaria Gonzales; brothers: Joe Gonzales & Robert Gonzales; and sister: Nicolasa Gonzales. Our dad came from a family of two brothers and two sisters. His parents owned two "mom and pop" stores which he would help work once a week on Sundays. He had a full time job when he was younger and married to our mom. He worked at Carsons restaurant. He later went to work at Artcarved Class rings in Austin. He worked there for 28 years. He retired from there and then opened a small restaurant and it was opened for 4 years. Then he and our mom went to work at Texas State for 10 years. Then they both retired. When he could, he would take me and my brother to car shows and also take us to concerts. We would go on small vacations out of town. Thru the years grandchildren came into his life. He would always spoil them. Then the great grandchildren came along and he was excited for those babies. He just loved having them around him and seeing them play. He was a die hard Cowboys fan. Without fail he would watch the Cowboys play. Throughout his 74 years he had our mom by his side always. Being married for 53 years, they went thru so much. Taking him to Dr appointments, going to the stores, yard/estate sales, and even going to have breakfast or lunch somewhere, he would "ride shotgun" next to her. So to know our dad, he was hard working, humble, over all a Happy man. He was loved by so many. We will miss him. I will miss his smile. We love you daddy. He is survived by his wife of 53yrs.: Gloria Gonzales; son: Mark A. Gonzales; daughter: Bertha Gamez (Juan Garcia); sister: Maria Elena Gonzales; grandchildren: David Gamez, Desiree Gamez, Carlos Garcia, Chloe Garcia, Christian Gonzales and Alejandro Gonzales; great grandchildren Elias Gonzales and Corinne Gamez; and with other family members and friends.
