Obituary of Roque Gonzales Jr.
Roque "Rocky" Gonzales passed away at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 92. He was born in San Marcos, Texas Roque honored his family and country serving in the United States Army during Post World War II. He worked as a cook in numerous restuarants, including Gary Job Corps and Aquarena Resturants in San Marcos, Sholtz Garden in Austin, Texas, later he opened his own buisiness and called it Rocky's Tamales Ranch then he, finally worked at South West Texas State University where he worked there for 10yrs. as a custodian and retired due to a heart condition. His hobbies were boxing and playting the accordian.
He iis preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Gonzales; grandson, Frank Christopher Torres; great grandson, Augustine Q. Sykes; parents, Roque Sr. & Josephine Gonzales; sisters, Dora Torres, Delia Villarreal, and Rosa Garza.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72yrs., Ruth C. Gonzales; sons, Rocky Gonzales and wife Teresa, Rudy Gonzales and wife Argentina; daughters, Sylvia Vargas, and Diane Quiroga and husband Mario; grandchildren, 16; great grandchildren, 30, great, great grandchildren, 24; and with many more loving family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the Los Angeles Funeral Home, 300 Cheatham St., San Marcos, Texas. with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 7:00 p.m., Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church … 624 E. Hopkins … San Marcos, Texas Rev. Father John Boiko will officiate. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas with full Military Honors.
Serving as Pallbearers: Christopher Torres Freedom Machado, David Gonzales, Gabriel Gonzales, Rocky Rios, and Abram Rios.
